Sport, Health & Fitness

The natural environment surrounding our school is ideal for the practice of sporting activities, which help students to develop and promote values such as perseverance, self-improvement, teamwork and cooperation, as well as strengthening their social skills.

For pupils at Agora Barcelona International School, sport forms an essential part of the curriculum: we try to encourage a passion for active and healthy habits, establishing patterns of behaviour that will help our students to grow into physically and emotionally balanced adults.

Healthy education

Agora Barcelona International School boasts a magnificent multi-use sports facility and a great sports club, accommodating the needs of each sport offered by our centre. Our facilities include two grass football pitches, basketball and handball courts, two padel courts, one tennis court, an indoor multi-sport centre and a 25-metre indoor swimming pool. Pupils choose from a wide range of sports on offer, including basketball, football, tennis, paddle, handball, swimming, volleyball, skating, yoga or modern dance, among others. All our students participate in swimming lessons and our swimming pool is the venue for a Federation swimming gala.

As well as taking part in sports within the mainstream curriculum, students at Agora Barcelona International School are also invited to participate in a range of international sporting events organised by the Globeducate group. These events celebrate sporting excellence and healthy competition and provide an opportunity for our international community to gather together. The Globeducate Olympic Games is an international Olympic-style event that brings together over 500 athletes from Globeducate’s schools around the world. In addition to promoting an active lifestyle, our students also participate in a comprehensive health project, focussing on good nutrition and healthy eating.

Dining room:

At Agora Barcelona International School we offer a healthy, sustainable menu which meets all our pupils' daily needs. Working with nutritionists and carried out by our chef and his team in the school kitchen, the aim we want to achieve is to promote healthy eating habits, as part of their education.

Swimming

Swimming is one of the most complete sporting activities: it boosts strength, endurance and flexibility while providing important emotional and cognitive benefits, improving memory, learning and mood. Thanks to our indoor pool, at Agora Barcelona International School we include swimming as part of the academic curriculum at Infant, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate stages.

High-performance sports

Our sports training program, both male and female level, allows students to combine their academic career and the experience of living in our residence with the professional practice of sports such as soccer, tennis, paddle tennis or golf.

Mental Health and Educational Psychology Department

We have a Guidance and Educational Psychology Department, with the aim of guiding and advising parents, pupils and teachers. A differential service dedicated to treating the educational needs of the pupils in an individualised way and attending to the diversity of the pupils, collaborating with the families to achieve educational excellence for each and every one of our pupils.

Additionally, as part of our concern for mental health care, our students can participate in our Body, Mind & Spirit programme.
