Led by experienced tutors Albert and Natalia, the Career-related Programme in Football Coaching has welcomed its first cohort of ten enthusiastic students this academic year.

Throughout the programme, students will gain hands-on experience in coaching, learning how to plan, lead, and evaluate training sessions while exploring the principles of sports science, teamwork, and leadership. This practical approach enables them to develop transferable skills (such as communication, organisation, and critical thinking) that will serve them in a wide range of future careers.

As part of the school’s broader International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme (POP) framework, the Football Coaching Certification integrates the academic rigour of IB studies with the real-world focus of vocational training. Students follow two academic courses from the IB Diploma Programme alongside a professional qualification in sport, combining theory, practice, and personal growth.

The Career-related Programme in Football Coaching is specifically designed for students aged 16 to 19, providing a flexible and comprehensive pathway towards higher education and the professional world. By completing this programme, students can obtain up to three recognised qualifications:

1. An international academic qualification that grants direct access to university.
2. Grado Medio, a national academic qualification that allows entry to advanced vocational programmes.
3. A professional qualification with both national and international recognition in sports coaching.

The vocational strand focuses on the Técnico Deportivo en Fútbol (Level I and II), which combines practical football training with theoretical modules on leadership, team management, and physical education. Students also participate in components unique to the IB Career-related Programme, including Personal and Professional Skills, Language Development, Service Learning, and the Reflective Project. All designed to nurture the IB Learner Profile attributes such as open-mindedness, emotional balance, and responsibility.
