Third Prize in the Photography category at the Globeducate Arts Competition
- Awards and recognitions
Once again, the Globeducate Arts Competition has been held, showcasing the creativity of students from across Globeducate schools. This year, one of our International Baccalaureate (IB) students, Luan, won third prize in the Photography section. The theme, "Marine," inspired a beautiful exploration of the moon's reflection on the sea, captured in the stunning landscape of Costa Brava.
The Power of Art in Education
Art has the unique ability to evoke emotions and foster connections with the world around us. This year’s theme provided an opportunity to reflect on the beauty and fragility of our oceans. By capturing the moon’s reflection on the calm sea, our student communicated a powerful message about the need for conservation and protection.
Symbolism of Peace and Quiet
The photograph taken on Costa Brava is more than just a beautiful image; it embodies the symbolism of peace and quiet. The stillness of the water reflects not only the moon but also a sense of calmness and tranquillity, reminding us of nature’s ability to bring peace to our minds. The lack of human or artificial elements in the scene emphasizes the purity and quietude of the environment, symbolizing the harmony that exists when we step away from distractions. The moon’s gentle reflection on the water serves as a metaphor for a peaceful world, where every natural element is in balance and undisturbed.
From Reflection to Photography
Luan captured the serene image of the moon gently caressing the sea’s surface—a metaphor for nature’s delicate balance and the urgency of protecting it. This photograph was taken on the picturesque Costa Brava, where the stillness of the night and the beauty of the landscape created the perfect setting.
When asked about his inspiration, Luan shared: "I was inspired to take this photo because there wasn’t much visual noise, just the natural environment without human or artificial elements like boats. What these spaces bring is tranquillity, and at night, everything looks more serene, more at peace. I decided to participate in the competition because, upon hearing about it, I remembered the peaceful moment at Costa Brava and decided to submit this photo as my contribution. I wanted to capture that nighttime peace and convey the importance of preserving these places."
The Outcome: A Triumph of Creativity
We are proud to announce that Luan’s photograph earned third place in the 2024 Globeducate Arts Competition. This achievement highlights his talent and ability to convey a deep environmental message through art. We congratulate him for taking part and winning this prestigious recognition.
Conclusion: A Call for Action
This project not only celebrated photography but also encouraged reflection on our relationship with nature. Through the beauty of the moonlit sea, captured on the Costa Brava, Luan created a powerful reminder of the fragility of our world. Art has the power to inspire change, and we hope our students continue to use their creativity to advocate for a more sustainable future.
